Chuck Waggon Express

Chuck Wagon “Express” Ministry

On some occasions, Jesus was known to provide food for his followers. He met their tangible needs and set an example for us to follow.  When we provide a meal for someone who is hurting, we have the distinct privilege of sharing the love of Christ with that person.  In Psalm 119:50 David said “This is my comfort in my affliction, that Your word has revived me.”   Jesus served others with food, but also gave comfort and encouragement by sharing words from the Father.  To follow this example, we want to do more than just drop food off, we want to offer words of comfort and encouragement.

If you are in a situation where some temporary meals would help you recover, please contact the church office and they will get in touch with the express team.

If you are interested in serving with this ministry please read the following information.

We have various express teams spread out over our local areas.

Each team has between 4-6 team members, one being the team leader.

Each team leader will:

  • Plan the meal
  • Call team members
  • Divide responsibilities
  • Make delivery

A hot meal consists of:

  • Meat, 2 Veggies, Salad, Bread, Dessert, Tea
    • All food should be put into foil containers so the recipient will not be burdened with returning dinnerware.

Needs that are customarily provided for under this ministry are:

  • Surgeries or temporary disability
    • Meals can be provided twice a week for two weeks.  Situations will vary, so this may fluctuate in order to meet the specific need.
  • A death in the family
    • This is for immediate family
If the funeral is at our church, generally there will be a meal before or after the service. If the family is large, several teams will be called to assist with a meal for the family.  Depending on the circumstances, there may be one team assigned to deliver a meal to the home.
  • A new baby
    • We will deliver one hot meal to the home after baby comes.  Then call one team to prepare a few frozen casseroles for the family to use as needed.
  • Needs:
    • If you become aware of a need, there are information sheets on the table at the back of the church you can fill out and put in a basket.  We will check the basket weekly and get in touch with that family.

2 Corinthians 1:3-5
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort,  who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For just as the sufferings of Christ are ours in abundance, so also our comfort is abundant through Christ.
